Darn Things You Should Not Do On An Ice Rink

While the snow-covered neighborhood gives a white, dull look across the street, your ice rink in the backyard ensures fun and comfort throughout the season. Besides providing ultimate fun and fitness to your family, the rink also enhances the appeal of your architecture. However, you may inadvertently make mistakes when using the area, although you are aware of its functions and benefits. If you want to make your winter activity special, watch out for the things you should never do on the ice rink.

Walking on High Heel Shoes

Some people think that the hard ice surface can withstand pressure from the body since it can dance and slide upon it. Opposite to such a delusional take, the surface can crack if you stomp on it in stiletto shoes. If you want to keep your portable ice rink long-lasting the whole season, wear skating shoes whenever you enter the arena. This footwear allows wearers to glide on the smooth surface without creating dents.

Not Wearing Protective Gear

Snow sports on the ice rink are thrilling events for everyone, but the activity attributes to risks of accidents and injuries. Whether you want to participate in a hockey match or pose for a selfie pic in the middle of the rink, you cannot go in there in your casual wear. Improper outfit choices for ice skating could lead to untoward incidents. Invest in skates, helmets, waterproof pants, and a jacket for layering for safe play.

Leaving Clutter

When you accidentally drop spillage of liquid, food crumbs, household items, and mud from shoes on the rink, the material could enter the layer after the next snowfall. Even if you do not bring unnecessary things into the rink, the wind brings dead leaves and dirt particles to the area. The presence of such materials inside the ice sheet is a factor in destroying the structure. A better way to protect the rink from harmful elements is to avoid eating and doing odd jobs near the area. Cover the surface with a tarp when you are not using the rink.

Once you install a rink, the facility will likely face an uncanny environment during the cold season. When getting a portable skating rink, consult an expert to adopt preventive maintenance until the last snowflake melts.
